NFL Great Shawne Merriman To Host The 17th Annual "Lights On" Coat Drive to Benefit Veterans

Why: Former Maryland standout and NFL great, Shawne Merriman, will host his Annual "Lights On" Foundation Coat Drive and dedicate this year's undertaking to homeless US Veterans who are in need of support.

"Many of our Veterans are in need of warm clothing this winter," state Merriman. "And as a part of the Lights On mission, we want to do our part to help," continues the NFL Pro Bowler.

Partnering with his Alma Mater, The University of Maryland, Merriman will present the 17th installment to add to the 28k coats collected over the past 16 years.  This year's coat drive will benefit Maryland-based Veterans' organization, MCVET.
The 17^th Annual Coat Drive will be held this Saturday prior to the Maryland-Illinois basketball game at the XFINITY Center. Merriman will be joined by other Terps athletes, collecting coats, hats, scarves and other cold-weather clothing.
