Follow on Google News | PEI Introduced a Series of Eight Information Booklets to Promote Francophone ImmigrationBy: Canada Pr Avenue Total eight booklets have been launched by the province with an aim to attract more French-speaking immigrants and replace the ageing population of PEI with more young, dynamic and skilled workers. Around 34% of PEI's total population age over 55 years and more than 51% of francophone in PEI are in that same age group. Thus, as said, by attracting more French-speaking immigrants can further help the province in strengthening its community. Out of 8 booklets, the main booklet is 'Opportunity Awaits: Attracting Francophone immigrants to Prince Edward Island', this booklet majorly talks about the importance of inviting francophone immigrants to the province to support its culture and economy. If we go by Statistics Canada's table that is listed in the main booklet, then it shows that PEI's population growth rate was 6% between the year 2015 to 2018, which is considered as the fastest population growth rate in Canada between those years. In addition to economic opportunities, immigrants who settle on Prince Edward Island benefit from an excellent quality of life." The booklet also states that "immigrants who can speak both French and English earn an average of 15 percent more annual income than unilingual workers." About the Other Seven Books The remaining seven books except the main booklet 'Opportunity Awaits: Attracting Francophone immigrants to Prince Edward Island', contains information about PEI's regional demographic and economic data. The key focus is on top five PEI industries, including: * Health care and social assistance * Public administration * Agriculture, forestry, fishing * Retail trade * Manufacturing Interestingly, PEI is the third-largest French-speaking province in Canada with 13% of the French-Speaking population as a whole and 52% solely in the Evangeline region of PEI after New Brunswick and Quebec.
