College Signing Day for Eagle Hill School's Ash LoConte

HARDWICK, Mass. - Jan. 24, 2020 - PRLog -- Ana "Ash" Maria Hassler LoConte, a senior at Eagle Hill School (EHS), signed a letter of intent, committing to row next year at Division I Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland.

Accompanied by her family, EHS coaching staff, and fellow rowing team members, the ceremonial Signing Day took place on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Eagle Hill School's Baglio Sports and Fitness Center in Hardwick, Massachusetts.

"Loyola University is getting a very special young woman. Ash has been involved with many programs at Eagle Hill, including soccer, softball, basketball, and of course rowing, where she found her passion," stated Cynthia Coughlin, athletic director at Eagle Hill School. "We are very lucky to have had Ash for a number of years, and this is just the beginning for her."

"We knew that when Coach Foley and I took over the rowing program that Ash would be a perfect fit. Knowing that her mother rowed before, we are so happy that Ash took a leap of faith and tried the sport herself, having never participated before," expressed Rebecca Miller, head rowing coach. "Now, several years later, Ash is our leader and our captain. It is not always easy to trust a young athlete to control a very expensive boat, but Ash has earned everything. Ash has been a role model for our other rowers and has demonstrated a tremendous commitment to our program. We are so happy for her next opportunity at Loyola, where we know she will do great things."

LoConte, the daughter of Dr. Hassler and Ms. LoConte, of Boylston, Massachusetts, will enter her freshman year this fall, joining the Loyola rowing's Greyhound family and Class of 2024. She intends to study Health and Wellness at the University.
