Jody Williams to become Executive Director of ASBA

BRONX, N.Y. - Feb. 3, 2020 - PRLog -- On May 1, 2020, Jody Williams will become Executive Director of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA). She will take over from outgoing Executive Director, Denise Walser-Kolar.

"Jody is well known in the botanical art community. In 2012 she received the ASBA James White Service Award for Dedication to Botanical Art," said Suzanne Wegener, President of ASBA's Board of Directors. "As a volunteer, Jody has already served ASBA in many roles. She contributed her expertise, leadership abilities, and many hours as a Director, Vice President, President, Webmaster, and International Liaison."

Williams holds a Mechanical Engineering degree and an MBA. She worked as an analyst and business manager in logistics, new product development, marketing, and operations, and as a director of strategy implementation for Solutia (a materials and specialty chemicals manufacturer). Now a full-time botanical artist, Williams works from her studio in the Foundry Art Centre in St. Louis.

"I am honored to be asked to serve ASBA in the role of Executive Director, continuing to support the organization in its mission," said Williams. "I look forward to working with our capable staff and dedicated board members to support our membership and bring greater awareness and appreciation of botanical art and the relevance of the plant world to broader audiences."

ASBA's mission is to provide a thriving interactive community dedicated to perpetuating the tradition and contemporary practice of botanical art.
