Socially Relevant™ Film Festival NY Unveils Seventh Edition Official Selection

NEW YORK - Feb. 4, 2020 - PRLog -- [NEW YORK, NY] SR Socially Relevant Film Festival NY (SRFF 2020) unveiled its SRFF 2020 Official Selection to film critics and journalists at Monte's Trattoria in Greenwich Village. The festival's seventh season brings international and local films, industry workshops and panels, script readings, and networking events to New York City. SRFF 2020 opens on March 16 at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Centre at the Lincoln Centre with Sophie Deraspe's ANTIGONE, Canada's entry for Best International Film at the Academy Awards 2020. Screenings continue all week through March 22 at venues including Cinema Village, Hunter College, The Baha'i Centre, The Lebanese American University and The Centre for Remembering and Sharing. $6 early bird tickets and $100 all-access passes are available now in limited quantities until full price tickets at $15 kick-in on February 28.

The Official Selection covers a diverse mix of six narrative features, 10 documentaries, over 20 shorts, and more. There will also be a script-writing contest with readings from finalist scripts. Visit www.ratedsrfilms.org for full slate and film details. The schedule will be published soon.

• Birth Wars by Janet Jarman (Mexico)

• Can't Stop the Sun from Shining by Teresa Mular (USA)

• Inside/Outside by Nandini Sikand (USA)

• Microplastic Madness by Atsuko Quirk, Debby Lee Cohen (USA)

• Mother of Tibetans by Niklas Goslar (Germany - India, Poland)

• Potluck: The Altered State of Colorado by Jane Wells (USA)

• Stonewall with a T by Samy Nemir Olivares (USA)

• Tell My Story by David Freid (USA)

• Undermined: Tales from the Kimberley by Nicholas Wrathall (Australia)

Themes for selected short film groupings include:

• Across the Border, Mental Health, Climate Change, Women & #MeToo, Indigenous Peoples' Rights, Food Justice, Middle East Peace, LGBTQ Rights, Workers' Rights

Friday March 13, features a Parallel event at NGO CSW at the United Nations with a selection of short films on Climate: Violence and the Environment: Women Paying the Price. The films will be followed by a panel discussion at Church Centre for the UN.
