RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - Feb. 10, 2020 - PRLog -- When it comes to the ongoing redevelopment of Riviera Beach, Florida, there are many simultaneous efforts in effect, from helping provide affordable housing and incentivizing growth to funding infrastructure and community beautification. One highly successful spoke in the wheel of progress is the Riviera Beach Homebuyer's Club Workshop Series.

This series of workshops by the Riviera Beach Community Development Corporation (CDC), with help from the Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and sponsored by Community Partners of South Florida, provides guidance and information for residents considering the plunge into home ownership. Now, with a generous $5,000 grant courtesy of BankUnited national bank, the 2019 program was in an even better position to prepare Riviera Beach residents for what is often the largest investment they will ever make.

"Purchasing a home can be intimidating," says Claire Raley, Senior Vice President, Community Development and Outreach for BankUnited. "As a lender, we see firsthand the complexities involved in the process, which is why we're so passionate about this workshop series and supportive of the effort. Knowledge is power."

The Homebuyer's Club Workshop covers a number of homeownership topics, including setting financial goals that lead to home ownership, improving spending and saving habits, networking, and the benefits of becoming involved in the community.

The Riviera Beach CDC and the Villas at Solana Project

Part of the mission of the Riviera Beach CDC and its many initiatives, such as the Homebuyer's Club Workshop Series, involves acquiring, rehabilitating and operating affordable, safe and sanitary housing for families of modest means and the elderly. Another exciting CDC initiative is its February 2018 acquisition of Bougainvillea Court, a failed residential development.

Relaunched as the Villas at Solana, the CDC has plans underway to fully develop the property into 28 new affordable townhomes destined for families, seniors, veterans and more in a walkable neighborhood that includes visitor parking, a playground, covered pavilion, jogging trail, fountain and lush landscaping.

According to the CDC, a construction management firm has been secured, all due diligence has been completed, and the process of selecting an architect has begun. Financial packages are also being prepared and presell plans are underway.
