"The new name – Learning Empowered – allows us to emphasize our wide-ranging objective around implementing education-based programs that teach children and families the mechanisms and provide the tools needed for them to become self-sustaining members of the community," said A. Matthew (Matt) Rosen, Executive Director. "As an organization with its roots in personalized, competency-based learning, we are committed to delivering breakthrough programs that can accommodate learning styles. Learning Empowered includes three core programs: Early Learning Programs focus on preparing children from two months to five years with school readiness skills including communication, literacy skills and social-emotional skills. Integrated Learning Programs work with immigrant and refugee students by assisting adult English language learners with English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and citizenship classes. Community Learning Programs offer assistance to those experiencing financial difficulties and housing instability with a variety of options including Ready to Rent. "When our children and families graduate from one of our programs, there is an outcome that can be identified and measured," adds Rosen. "To that end, we will continue to provide them with the tools they need to better navigate their successes." The new name is effective immediately, and will be implemented across the organization in the coming months.
