MIRAMAR, Fla. - March 16, 2020 - PRLog -- Wingspan Seminars kicked off Women's History on March 6 in Belize City, Belize. The Florida based business, CEO Priscilla Dames, hosted, Wings on Women International Summit themed domestic violence with support from the Women's Department and the National Women's Commission of Belize. A delegation from Florida, led by Miami-Dade County School Board member, Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall also the Founder of No More Broken Hearts (NMBH), a domestic violence foundation took part in the summit.

Hosted at the Radisson in Belize City, the summit kicked off with both partners, Priscilla Dames and Aarti Sooknandan being guests on Open Your Eyes Morning Show on Thursday, March 5th. There, they discussed how they met and why Ms. Dames choose domestic violence as the topic. Aarti Sooknankdan, a Miss Universe Belize Semi-Finalist's platform was domestic violence and had led a fundraiser for Haven House, an independent women's shelter.

Ms. Dames initially went on a trade mission with The Belize-American Chamber located in Miramar, Florida. While launching a business at the October Belize Business Expo, Dames noted several indicators that domestic violence is a focus in Belize. She was simultaneously working on the No More Broken Hearts Twentieth Anniversary conference planning committee in Miami. While traveling back and forth to Belize, Dames learned the work of the Women's Department and met several women working on behalf of empowering women and children and assisting independence and sustainability. All groups and entities came together to garner the success of the summit. The Women's Department, NMBH and the national Commission for Women shared best practices and challenges they each faced. Working in focus groups led to more sharing, questions, answers and action planning.

As more guests arrived than expected, additional news stations did too.   Working across borders with the same focus can evidently be a winning, learning idea for all.  The summit ended with Ms. Dames leading a group pledge. With hands across the heart, the women and men promised to first use their own wings to fly, but then collectively help a sister friend find her own wings. The Women & Family Support Department of Belize has already agreed to partner with Wingspan Seminars to continue the collaboration across borders in 2021.

Wingspan Seminars awarded Dr. Bendross-Mindingall The Pea'Ce Award for her twenty years of communal service. This award, the logo's peace dove represents contributions to a communities' peace.
