3 Narratives for Three Artists

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. - April 22, 2020 - PRLog -- Artist Lynn Wartski says of her work, "My newest sculptures all feature anthropomorphic figures captured in a somewhat surreal or even absurd way.  This represents a slight change of direction in my art doll sculptures that have been primarily human figures. I'm finding that this current series of work allows even more freedom to stretch the definition of what these playful figures can be and say.  I leave it up to the viewer to unravel the narrative they each have to tell."

Michele Yellin's paintings each tell a story. "In particular they are telling the narrative of my daily life, my thoughts, hopes, sorrows and dreams." Everything is in there, hidden in the layers as well as on the surface of the canvas. "However, my narrative is not mine alone. These paintings tell of our universal story, the Heroine's/Hero's journey, which is true for each and every one of us, wherever we are in our lives."

Being teamed up with a painter and a doll maker sent jeweler Nell Chandler back to her narrative roots. "When we all decided that one of the things we have in common is telling stories through our work, I thought I would do a line called 'Friends'." My sisters began encouraging me to do this when they saw one of the pieces I had made for a mutual friend. So when Michele, Lynn and I decided on the title "Three Narratives" I thought it would be the perfect time to delve into my new "Friends" line. I enjoyed drawing with colored pencils again and setting the images into my jewelry.
