Case Study: Companies can save more than $170K annually with commercial LED lighting conversion

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - April 24, 2020 - PRLog -- A new case study released by The Safety Source outlines the potential savings businesses can reap by converting warehouse lighting to LEDs from existing halogen lights.

The Safety Source, an MRO Supplier, and a turn-key LED Retrofitter, approached NEAPCO Drivelines with a proposal for a turnkey solution for the company to upgrade their interior lighting to energy-efficient LED fixtures. As part of this, The Safety Source offered to handle NEAPCO's application with DTE Energy to secure the largest energy rebate possible. NEAPCO agreed to the proposal.

The conversion, which took seven days, involved retrofitting NEAPCO's 450,000 sqft  building envelope in Belleville with energy-efficient LED fixtures and lamps, including high bay, task, inspection, and office fixtures.

In addition to improved light levels and lower maintenance requirements, the new LED fixtures saved NEAPCO $163,530.17 in annual electricity costs and $73,700 in maintenance costs.

Through the successful DTE Energy rebate application, The Safety Source also helped NEAPCO secure a rebate of $80,592.55 (rebates are a time-limited opportunity — government rebates for energy efficient investments can expire at any time).

The environmental impact of the conversion is also significant: Through the conversion, NEAPCO reduced their carbon emissions by 3,125,253 pounds of C02 annually, the equivalent of removing 260 cars from the road, or planting 30,616 trees.
