Virtual Summer Programs from The Center for Contemporary Art

BEDMINSTER, N.J. - May 22, 2020 - PRLog -- Registration is underway for Virtual Summer Art Camps offered by The Center for Contemporary Art. Ten weekly Summer Art Camps, from June 22 – August 28, are offered for children ages 5-15 in half-day sessions. Art Camps take place online via Zoom and are designed to stimulate creative expression through projects and activities that change each week.

Summer Art Camps allow children to develop important artistic techniques and learn about the principles of visual art, historical periods and well-known artists. All camps are led by professional, experienced, and creative teaching artists; provide a curriculum tailored to three individual age groups; and allow students to enjoy small class sizes with projects and themes which vary weekly.  All art supplies are included in the price of tuition and will be provided weekly via curbside pickup.

In morning camps, young artists ages 5-8 and 9-11 will spend half of the morning engaged in fun and creative two-dimensional projects with painting, drawing, and mixed media, and the other half exploring three-dimensional projects including sculpture, mold-making, carving as well as other special subjects. Teens will explore a single medium in depth.

Afternoon camps provide artists ages 9-11 and teens the opportunity to explore a single medium in depth that varies by week including Graffiti, Cartooning, iPad Drawing, 3D Design & Printing, Chinese Brush Painting and much more. Afternoon Art Camps will not be offered for children ages 5-8 years old.

The Center will also offer week-long virtual camps for children ages 6-15 with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other special needs beginning June 29^th. These camps are generously funded by grants from Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and The Provident Bank Foundation.

Online adult summer classes and workshops begin June 29^th and will be offered via Zoom.  Students can select from either one or two-day workshops or spend the time exploring a medium in-depth. Classes are offered for all levels of experience in a variety of mediums, including watercolor, oil and acrylic painting, colored pencils, pen & ink, drawing, ceramics and graffiti. Class offerings include "Watercolor Step-by-Step," "Introduction to Acrylic Painting," "Drawing Perspective," "Portrait Drawing," "Still Life & Landscape," "Graffiti 1-2-3!" "Oil Landscape," "Drawing & Painting with Colored Pencils" and more.
