The "Road of Courage" armoured race won't be canceled and will take place

MOSCOW, Russian Federation - May 25, 2020 - PRLog -- The fourth armored race "Road of Courage", dedicated to 75th anniversary of Victory in the great Patriotic War, will not be canceled and will be held in Russian cities from July 8 to 15. It is expected that by July 1, all Covid-19 restrictions will be completely lifted.

The theme of this armored run is battle of Kursk that took place in summer of 1943. "Road of Courage" participants include military-patriotic organizations and military museums from Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, as well as representatives from Russian National Guard and Donetsk people's Republic Ministry of defense. They will be driving demilitarized vehicles along the following route: Moscow — Tula — Orel — Kursk — Prokhorovka — Belgorod — Moscow.

The convoy will include restored equipment that was previously in service within the Soviet army: BRDM-1, BRDM-2, BTR-40, BTR-80, as well as military vehicles like ZIS 151, ZIL 131, GAZ-69, ZIL 164, UAZ 469, BM-13 («Katuysha»). In each of the cities, flowers will be laid at memorials of fallen Soviet soldiers, participants will visit places of glory, as well as a presentation of armored vehicles will be held with their backstory told.


"[Participants of] The armored race will drive military machinery restored according to the original blueprints. This machinery is now a monument to the time when it had to solve complex tasks to protect the borders of our country. We will again ride on the roads where our grandfathers and great-grandfathers heroically defended and later advanced, protecting their Homeland and saving the world from the most terrible disease of the XX century. We are glad that on the 75th anniversary of Victory, the race will not be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and will take place in the previously scheduled time", said the project organizer, head of the Interregional public organization for the promotion of the study and operation of military equipment (MROO SIEVT) "Military-Technical Society" Alexey Migalin.

The Pavlodar search group "Panfilovshylar" (Kazakhstan) and the Historical and cultural complex "Stalin's Line" (Belarus) have already confirmed their participation in the "Road of Courage".

The Plan of the main events for the year of memory and glory in Russia in 2020 included another annual event of the "Military-Technical Society", the record holder of the Book of records of Russia (2017) — the "Kerch landing". The Kerch Strait will be crossed by armored vehicles. The action is held in the memory of Soviet soldiers and sailors of the Black sea fleet who died during the Kerch-Eltigen operation in 1943.
