LAS VEGAS - June 2, 2020 - PRLog -- The Urban League, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving underserved persons in Southern Nevada, has launched its new website highlighting the many services of its special supplemental nutritional program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC).

Adding to an increased online presence, WIC counselors will also be reaching out to new and expectant mothers and fathers through an extensive social media program targeting community events and local businesses known to attract potential clients.

"Our program prides itself on customer-service delivery," Tim Perez, Director of Nutrition Education - WIC said. "Although our main goal is nutrition education and improving the infant mortality rate, we have established a standard of "Hospitality Driven – Nutritional Focus."

"We want to educate and empower women on the opportunities provided at no cost to families who qualify," Perez added. "Moms can come into our offices to determine eligibility requirements, make an appointment and in the same day get the information they need. The website will also include links to social media pages where people can engage with us online 24 hours a day on their smart phones."

Each of the Urban League's two offices at 6480 W. Flamingo Road, Suite B and 3320 E. Flamingo Road, Suite 50 in Las Vegas handle more than 3,000 customers a month.   Every Urban League WIC manager focuses on friendly customer service. They encourage new moms to get fathers involved in their children's needs.

The Nutritional Education Team provides nutritional education to parents, so that they can make better choices and lead healthier lifestyles. WIC's Clinic Coordinators provide free customer service and assistance to clients facing difficult situations such as monitoring gestational age and birth weights for infants. The Breastfeeding Program educates parents on the benefits of mother's milk and provides essential information on the variety of breast pumps available, how to store breast milk in storage bags, acquiring special-needs bottles and other transitional feeding tools available on the market.

Besides providing same-day services on the WIC program, taking no longer than 90 minutes to prequalify a person over the phone, WIC managers are mobile and can travel to any part of the Las Vegas Valley to interview potential clients.

Customers who have benefited from the WIC program will have their testimonials linked to the new website, as well as instructional videos hosted by physicians and staff members. Moms and dads will have access to breast-feeding information, proper nutritional habits, exercise routines and much more.

WIC is a federal assistance program of the Food and Nutrition Service of the United States Department of Agriculture for healthcare and nutrition of pregnant women, breastfeeding women and children under the age of 5.
