Anyone with relevant information is invited to come forward.
By: Garcia & Artigliere The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a woman who allegedly suffered from a hospital-acquired pressure sore during her stay at the facility. When admitted to Desert Valley Hospital, the injury victim was already suffering from type 1 diabetes, high blood pressure, dementia, and other conditions that rendered her completely dependent on staff for her daily needs. Because the injury victim was a dependent adult, the staff at Desert Valley Hospital had a clear duty of care to ensure that she was kept clean and rotated to avoid pressure sores, which are painful skin wounds that can develop when an individual remains sedentary for long periods of time. However, on February 28, 2020, the victim's daughter noticed a pressure sore the size of a tangerine on her tailbone. This fact was documented the same day by a nurse at the facility and was also documented the next day by a nurse at Apple Valley Post Acute Care Center. However, upon the victim's return to Desert Valley Hospital, the hospital staff wrote that "she now has a pressure ulcer where she did not have one prior," in a clear attempt to cover up the neglect that she had endured. As a result of this serious injury, the victim was subjected to needless pain and suffering and eventually developed a life-threatening infection. The family is seeking maximum compensation in this matter, and their attorneys at Garcia & Artigliere invite anyone with information about this hospital to come forward.
