Follow on Google News | ![]() Anthony Jones appointed Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Georgia Entertainment AssociationEntertainment Association, Inc.; Freddy Cameron steps down as Chief Executive Officer and Director. The Georgia Entertainment Association, Inc. ("GEA") today announced that its board of directors has appointed Entertainment Attorney Anthony Jones as chairman and chief executive officer. Founded in 2010 by former A&R Manager (Arista/BMG, IGA) Freddy Cameron, the organization sought to bring together thought leaders and tastemakers in the growing Georgia entertainment industry, including film, television, music and sports. GEA was known for its "In The Mix" series wherein industry experts shared their knowledge on navigating the expanding terrain of the Georgia entertainment landscape. The organization took a extended hiatus in 2013 when then-CEO Cameron took an opportunity in his native Los Angeles to return and pursue a career in the retail and cannibis. Prior to that GEA, had steadily increased its membership through its series of events including Holiday soirees, After Work Socials and music showcases. Although Mr. Cameron leaves his post as CEO, he is proud to remain a member of the organizations Board of Directors. "We are fortunate to have someone of Anthony Jones' caliber and experience step up to lead GEA," said Cameron. "We are at a critical moment in the entertainment industry in Georgia and we need his passion for the community's professionals and fresh ideas to reignite the need for the organization as a whole." The leadership appointment of Mr. Jones is effective immediately and will put the organization in steady leadership as the entertainment community faces uncertain times in the throws of the Covid-19 pandemic. "I want to thank Freddy and all of the supporters and members of (GEA). As a newcomer to Georgia in 2009, I could always count on GEA to be my 'go-to' for all things industry networking", Jones said. "I believe the void left could be felt by many of my industry colleagues; I am proud to lead the organization to next generation of entertainment and media exec's in Georgia in the coming years." Mr. Jones, a veteran entertainment attorney and serial entrepreneur, brings his experience to GEA after launching a successful entertainment practice and several successful start-ups in a variety of industries. He states his first order of business is filling his executive and new board with members of the community that have the passion for seeing the entertainment industry in Georgia take on new heights.
