Dallas based freelancer collective kicks off official launch by forming partnership with GA Dallas

DALLAS - June 23, 2020 - PRLog -- An emerging freelance collective, The Ten Ninety-Nine, is kicking off their official launch this month by forming their first partnership with General Assembly Dallas. A collective that was started & currently managed by social media & marketing consultant Shawnee Leonard, The Ten Ninety-Nine will be serving the local Dallas/Fort Worth community by hosting monthly virtual workshops & social events for new & established freelancers.

"I love all the work that Meagan has been doing with General Assembly so it was only right to form a partnership with them. I'm looking forward to connecting with her GA students who are also freelancers to offer them additional support during this pandemic," says Shawnee Leonard, Founder at The Ten Ninety-Nine. "I was very hesitant about launching this organization since recent events & the pandemic have everybody in a funk right now, including myself. I was convinced by colleagues to move forward with this initiative because freelancers need community, resources and support more than anything right now."

General Assembly, an education organization that is specializing in today's most in-demand skills, was all on board to collaborate with The Ten Ninety-Nine to co-host workshops & social events. "Freelancers within the local community have generated over $7 billion in revenue making DFW one of the top 10 metros for independent professionals. Shawnee Leonard has been a constant within the local freelance ecosystem and we are so excited to be a part of this collaboration to bring resources and support to the DFW freelance community," says Meagan Moakes, City Lead at General Assembly.

The Ten Ninety-Nine co-hosted their virtual launch party with General Assembly Dallas Thursday, June 11th from 6:30-7:30 PM that featured local freelancers Veleisa Patton Burrell, Jaleesa Howard and Ingrid Quiroz as panelists who discussed their experiences as freelancers. The Ten Ninety-Nine will be hosting virtual workshops on the 3rd Thursday of every month & virtual monthly happy hours on the 4th Thursday of every month.
