Amazon has been taking longer than usual to fulfill orders due to the unprecedented increase in demand. This is something that usually happened during the holiday season, which is why Amazon hires thousands of temporary workers during that time. They are using the same strategy now to help combat the increase in demand. They also made other changes. The IPI requirement for more storage space increased from 400-500. The IPI is based on four metrics about a seller's inventory; the excess inventory, sell-through, stranded inventory, in-stock inventory. There is also a new inbound quantity limit and a free removal order promotion. A final positive note from this announcement is that Amazon will be decreasing its retail product ordering which should mean more opportunity for 3rd party sellers because of less direct Buy Box competition from Amazon.
