Americas True Colors Shown Through The Eyes Of The Blues

CHICAGO - Aug. 17, 2020 - PRLog -- Chicago Blues Artist Bear Williams blends Old School Blues with Contemporary Inner-City Life for his poignant portrayal of what this country has become. "This is America" is the new single from Bear Williams and his fifth release overall on his independent GVR Records label distributed by INgrooves Universal Music. Says Williams, "This is America" is an ode to the struggle for equality in this country. Equal Rights will only become possible when all people of conscience make it happen right where they are by becoming the change they want to see in our country and our world. As the youngest of four children born into poverty on the South-side of Chicago and growing up to eventually tour and perform all over the world, Bear Williams has experienced both sides of the coin.

"My older sisters and brother have told me about the many times we all went to bed hungry. But yet, I grew up to work with major musical artists and to become one myself. I have stayed in Luxury Hotels all across the globe, but it was never once lost on me that I was a black man staying in these wonderful spaces and some white people felt that I had no right to be there at all. Every day I wake up and everywhere I go, I can never escape the fact that I am a black man living in America. We are somehow held to a different standard than white men and my reality is that it can be a dangerous and sometimes deadly existence. My ancestors were thought of as "less than human" and that stigma follows both black men and women to this very day. My wife worries when I leave our home for any length of time and that just should not be the case for anyone in a modern society. It is this systemic injustice and inequality that is at the very core of my song "This Is America". "This Is America" by Bear Williams is available from all online digital music platforms."
