Mathnasium of Mequon celebrates first anniversary at Mequon, Wis. location

MEQUON, Wis. - Aug. 20, 2020 - PRLog -- This month, Mathnasium of Mequon is marking its first anniversary located in Mequon, Wis. Mathnasium is North America's leading, math-only supplemental education franchise. Mathnasium teaches math so that children understand it, master it, and love it. Derek Pipkorn, owner of Mathnasium of Mequon, said, "Prior to opening the Mathnasium center in Mequon, I worked as a Middle School Math Specialist and Honors Geometry teacher in the Mequon-Thiensville School District. I actively worked with Mequon-Thiensville District leaders to push math education forward in the district. I also taught elementary and middle school students in Milwaukee Public Schools, and the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District."

With so many school districts moving to virtual learning, Mathnasium has just announced Prime Study Space. Children need a place free of distractions, and parents need freedom from having to supervise their online learning. Prime Study Space provides a comfortable workspace with private desk, fast internet, and power outlet so the child can focus on remote classroom learning. Students are kept safe through strict social distancing, disinfecting protocols, and mask and temperature checks. Mathnasium's background-checked facilitators keep them on task. Students can attend one session daily, in the morning.

Pipkorn has a Masters of Educational Leadership degree from Cardinal Stritch University and a B.S. in Middle Childhood-Early Adolescence Education with math emphasis from UW-Milwaukee. He has been actively involved in math organizations at the state and national level. Previously he was the chair of the Classroom Resources Committee for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and was on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Math Council. Pipkorn also owns the Mathnasium location in Wauwatosa.
