FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Aug. 26, 2020 - PRLog -- Lineus Medical is proud to announce its selection into the Nashville Entrepreneur Center's 2020 Project Healthcare cohort. The yearlong program running from August 2020 to July 2021 is the leading healthcare entrepreneurship initiative in Nashville that brings together technology and business leaders from across the healthcare industry to drive healthcare transformation through tailored programming and meaningful connections.  From hundreds of applicants, Lineus Medical was selected to participate in the 30-team cohort.

Vance Clement, CEO of Lineus Medical stated,

"Project Healthcare has divided the 30 companies in the program into mini-cohorts based on the products or services they offer and the business and financial traction they have gained.  We are very proud to be in the top tier of medical device companies, as it highlights the effort and momentum of the organization.  Nashville is a healthcare town. Two of the largest healthcare systems in the United states, HCA Healthcare, which is headquartered in Nashville, along with Ascension Health have a significant presence within the community and members of each organization serve as advisors to Project Healthcare. Throw in Vanderbilt and Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and there is a lot going on with healthcare in Nashville. We hope to make business headway and connections within all of these healthcare and hospital systems during the program.

This is Lineus Medical's fourth time to participate in a business accelerator or incubator since inception in 2015. Each time, we gain valuable experience, connections and guidance from the other startup companies as well as the hospitals and medical professionals involved.  The timing of Project Healthcare corresponds with what we anticipate will be FDA clearance and the launch of our first product, SafeBreak Vascular."

SafeBreak Vascular is a break-away connector that is designed to reduce the failure of peripheral IV lines and the negative cascade of events that occur after an IV is pulled out.  Peripheral IV dislodgement is shown to occur 11% of the time according to the clinical literature and represents a cost of more than $1.2B to the US healthcare system.  When excessive force is placed on an IV line with a SafeBreak installed, SafeBreak is designed to separate and offload the force and protect the IV.  Valves on each end of SafeBreak close upon separation to stop the flow of medication from the IV pump and to prevent blood loss on the patient side of the line.  The SafeBreak separation will cause the IV pump to alarm as an occlusion, which alerts the staff to come check on the situation.  The separated SafeBreak can be removed and a new sterile SafeBreak installed in a matter of minutes.  This will save the nurse time, the hospital money on supplies and medicine, and most importantly will save the patient from an additional needlestick from a new IV restart.

ABOUT LINEUS MEDICAL
Lineus Medical is the developer of a unique, patented, break-away IV technology that is being designed to work with a variety of medical tubing. Dislodgement of feeding tubes, IV lines, urinary catheters and any other type of medical line could be prevented by the device breaking into two pieces, and therefore protecting the patient's medical line. The company's first product, SafeBreak Vascular, fits into any standard IV tubing and will help prevent IV lines from failing, which occurs 46% of the time according to the clinical literature.1 SafeBreak Vascular is not yet FDA cleared and is not yet for sale. More information about Lineus Medical is available at www.lineusmed.com.
