A truly unique & award winning pure raw honey selection

MADRID - Aug. 28, 2020 - PRLog -- Nanako, Spain – Madrid Miel Family Selection is a hand-picked selection of the best of the best pure raw honey from the latest honey harvest. It has been carefully selected by the 4th generation of beekeepers, Rafael del Rio, and his son, Ivan. It is so outstanding and unique, in fact, that both raw honey varieties won top awards recently at the LIHA (http://www.londonhoneyawards.com/awards-results-2020)  (London International Honey Awards) 2020 – even the packaging won an award!

The raw honey is collected from across Spain and Portugal, including some national parks like the Picos de Europa and Tajo. They practice migratory beekeeping moving the hives across the country to be close to the nectar sources. This facilitates pollination of plants and forests, an essential natural process. The result is a range of very high quality varieties of unheated, unfiltered, unprocessed, cold-spun 100% pure raw honey.

THE SELECTION

RAFAEL'S HEATHER HONEY – one of the two best honey varieties in the world

Rafael chose Raw Heather Honey (Calluna), often referred to as the "Rolls Royce of honey". It is harvested at an altitude of 1000-1200 m in the Picos de Europa national park in very limited quantities as it is very costly and difficult to extract.

A number of studies have demonstrated Raw Heather honey is one of the very best honey varieties in the world (https://nanakogoods.com/?p=8227). Some properties are even better than other dark honey varieties, including Manuka honey (Leptospermum scoparium).

Raw Heather Honey is rich in phenolic acids, flavonoids, minerals and hydrogen peroxide providing powerful antibacterial action, unique healing properties and a natural antioxidant with a wide range of positive biological effects. Raw Heather honey, like Manuka honey, displays unusual properties. They both enter a gel-like state when motionless, but liquefy when stirred.

IVAN'S LAVANDER HONEY

Ivan chose Lavender honey, a honey that is harvested in August in the lavander fields of  Castilla & León, Spain at 900 meters above sea level. The bees produce a true honey essence, a light-coloured honey with unique properties. If we close our eyes, its aroma wakes up all our senses transporting us to the lavender fields where it originated. Its sweet and peculiar taste, sometimes with acidic notes, does not leave anyone indifferent and its crystallization makes it possible to see it as white or light amber.
