COLUMBIA, S.C. - Sept. 10, 2020 - PRLog -- This week in the "HOT-Seat" at Urban Academics is Sabrina B Moore, Ph.D., the Director, Student Intervention Services at the South Carolina Department of Education. She is in charge of overseeing school safety and climate initiatives.

Dr. Moore has over 30-years of combined administrative and teaching experience. She's also a certified trainer in Adult Mental Health First Aid, Restorative Practices, Active Shooter Response Training, and Working with At-Risk Males.

With funding for safety initiatives, Dr. Moore has been able to collaborate effectively with stakeholders throughout the state of South Carolina to deliver programming and services that include the voice of young people.

Dr. Sabrina will be accepting questions after sharing her story coming up through the many phases of "school life," all so different from today in the new normal of COVID-19. However, if anyone has strategies to share, it's Dr. Sabrina Moore. With her over 30 years of combined administrative and teaching experience, her most memorable days are those where skill meets reality - Figuring out real-world responses to real-world situations.

• Recent Collaboration with educators, law enforcement officials, mental health professionals, and schools psychologists in the development of the South Carolina School-Based Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Guidelines
• Recipient of the Governor and Mrs. Richard W Riley Award for Excellence in Dropout Prevention
• SCDE Video Production: Preventing the Risks of School Violence: Informed Educators
• SCDE Video Production: Preventing the Risks of School Violence: Informed Students
• Under Dr. Moore's Leadership, SCDE programs secured over 10 million in federal funds to address school safety issues.

Dr. Moore takes the "HOT-Seat at Urban Academics this week and will lead a conversation about keeping kids safe at home and school. All are welcome.
