Follow on Google News | ASBO International and Equitable Join Together to Fight Hunger Through Feeding AmericaEquitable has a longstanding commitment to support educators and sought to support ASBO International's members and their school districts in their efforts to cope with the challenges of COVID-19. Together, ASBO International and Equitable recognized food insecurity as a major issue. With rising unemployment and increasing food prices, more and more people are wondering where their next meal will come from," ASBO International Executive Director David Lewis says. "Feeding America is dedicated to ensuring nobody goes to bed hungry—especially during these challenging times. We know that hungry children cannot learn. We are proud to support Feeding America by helping them fulfill their mission." The Feeding America network of food banks, food pantries, and meal programs, including school- based food pantries and emergency disaster relief, work to distribute nourishing food to millions of children and adults who do not get the meals they need to thrive. Fred Makonnen, Divisional Vice President, Group Retirement at Equitable said, "The COVID-19 crisis has touched all of us. At Equitable, we wanted to find ways to have a real impact on people's daily lives. We are proud to work with ASBO International and its members to support Feeding America in its work to end hunger among children and their families." Briana Crane, managing director of strategic gifts at Feeding America, states, "Hunger is an issue that impacts every community in the United States. Feeding America is grateful to ASBO International and Equitable for their generous donation. Their support will help provide more meals to people who need it most." Equitable also sponsors the association's Eagle Awards program, which annually spotlights four exemplary school business leaders and provides each with a scholarship to award to a deserving student in their district. This year, ASBO International and Equitable are recognizing all school business professionals who are working to meet the needs of students through #SchoolBusinessChampions, a social media campaign to highlight the amazing actions school business professionals are taking to lead their schools through COVID-19.
