![]() Nonprofit launches 'World Mental Health-athon' to promote Mental Health AwarenessFor World Mental Health Day, Rethink Mental Health Incorporated, a 501(3)c nonprofit organization, is having a 'World Mental Health-athon' featuring various guest speakers every hour on Instagram Live to discuss their experience with mental health issues, combat the stigma, and spread the message that it is ok to not be ok!
'The World Mental Health-athon' will be hosted by Rethink Mental Health Incorporated founder, Samantha Foster. Her work through Rethink Mental Health Incorporated includes creating campaigns that combat the stigma on mental health, developing a mental health curriculum for youth, and recruiting a team of Mental Health Advocates who promote mental health awareness and support around the globe. "World Mental Health Day helps our society illuminate the importance of talking about mental health, not just one day a year, but every day. Our goal at Rethink Mental Health Incorporated is to eliminate the stigma so no one is left suffering in silence out of fear of being judged, harassed or discriminated against. Opening up a dialog about mental health is one of many ways we achieve this and the World Mental Health-athon does just that!" says Foster. World Mental Health Day was first celebrated in 1992 and is recognized in more than 150 countries as a day for mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. The theme this year is "greater investment and greater access to everyone, everywhere" and Rethink Mental Health Incorporated hopes to honor this theme with the 'World Mental Health-athon.' Rethink Mental Health Incorporated hosts various mental health campaigns year-round and offers many ways for people to get involved. Their flagship initiative is a mental health and social-emotional learning curriculum for youth that is taught in schools around the world, including being the first curriculum of its kind introduced in Nepal to over 3,000 children.
