OAKLAND, Calif. - Oct. 9, 2020 - PRLog -- In an effort to galvanize Oakland and San Francisco Bay Area voters, Jennifer Johns and The F.U.N. Manifesto have announced a new partnership with RyanNicole and The HAVEN Project for a special edition of CIVICS 101.

In 2018, Jennifer Johns, Bay Area musician, activist, and founder of The F.U.N. Manifesto, created a short video series called Civics 101, in an effort to demystify the voting process for historically oppressed communities.  "I believe that more people are not engaged civically because we are often un/misinformed about the process and don't believe that our votes matter.  Civics 101 seeks to empower voters with the education and confidence they need to cast their votes and be loud about what their communities deserve," says Johns.

The 2020 edition of Civics 101 takes a deeper dive into voter eligibility and voting logistics in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic to give voters confidence and motivation to cast informed choices on the November ballot. The new partnership with HAVEN and its founder RyanNicole also brings focus to ballot initiatives that specifically impact housing justice and equity.

Each day during the week of October 12-16, 2020, community members are encouraged to join an important, educational, and inspired conversation at 1 p.m. PDT, live from the Instagram profiles of Jennifer Johns (@aquariusjohns) and HAVEN (@_1haven_).

About The HAVEN Project:
HAVEN is a cultural media production and distribution initiative for housing justice aimed at local Bay Area voters.  It is a project of EastSide Arts Alliance conceived by artist-activist Ryan Austin in 2020. HAVEN engages local artists, media makers, experts, and leaders in the field to share their perspectives, experiences and testimonies on housing justice.  Through the creation and distribution of social justice media, HAVEN invites members of the community to radically imagine more just neighborhoods and cities.
