![]() Bald Mama Presents the Awwww...Hell The Queenz Benefit Comedy ShowBy: Bald Mama Founded in 2008, Bald Mama is a concierge service for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. The organization sprang up from a simple loaf of bread. Executive Director Stephanie Allen explains, "Bald Mama was founded by my best friend Maggie St. Miguel. At the time, she was a single mom and cancer patient who after a day of shopping for groceries, was mentally and physically exhausted. When she returned home, she realized she had forgotten a loaf of bread for her son's lunch. Having someone to call for help would have made all the difference in the world for Maggie at that moment; so, she decided to become the difference, and Bald Mama was launched." Since taking the helm of Bald Mama in 2012, Allen, who lost her grandfather to prostate cancer, has provided free services and support to cancer patients throughout Dallas-Fort Worth from light housekeeping, to dressing-up as Dora for a younger patient and watching soap operas with patients who simply need a little companionship. "Whatever our clients need at the time is what we provide," says Allen. The Queenz Comedy show will provide operational funds for the organization whose services are provided by a small staff of volunteers and in partnership with Cleaned Your Way Janitorial Services and Crystal Clean Cleaning Services (operating in South Carolina and Atlanta). Hosting the show is comedian and actress COCOA BROWN who is currently one of the stars of the hit TV series 9-1-1. Brown was also a series regular onTyler Perry's For Better or Worse and appeared in the feature films Ted 2 with Mark Wahlberg and Tyler Perry's The Single Mom's Club. The comedy line-up also features ANGELIA WALKER, KEISHA HUNT, AKELAH THA B, BONNIE, LISA LOVE and ALBERTA THE EXCEPTION. "I have always had a great love for promoting comedy," continues Allen. "Going to comedy shows helped me get through some of the most difficult times in my life. Now, to able to combine my passions for comedy and caring for others is truly and amazing experience."
