Shaquil and Jordanna Barrett Launch the 'Fifty50 Foundation', which Focuses on Supporting those in the Foster Care SystemBy: Fifty50 Foundation Jordanna lived within the foster care system as a young child beginning at 2 months old. She understands the ins and outs of the system, what kids are going through, and how people can be helpful. "The Fifty 50 Foundation will be a place where children in the foster care system can come and feel a sense of safety and belonging. This foundation was designed to give these kids the tools to break the cycle, and not become another statistic. We do not see these kids as numbers in the system, but rather a number in the success stories." – Jordanna Barrett. "There's power in not giving up and I am living proof". According to 'Adopt US Kids', on any given day in the United States, there are approximately 440,000 children living in foster care. These children range in age from 0 to 21 and, on average, will remain in state care for an average of a year and a half. "I'm committed to using my platform where and when I could be impactful, and this is near and dear to my heart", said Shaquil Barrett. The Fifty50 Foundation will also focus on the families who devote their time to the children in the foster care system. The Barrett family has visions to create a recreation center designed for foster care children and their families.
