By: Paving the Way Project Greater Bethesda Church / Paving the Way Project Brings Community Together to Host 5th Annual Breakfast with Santa WHEN: Saturday December 12th, 9:00 am - 11:00 am WHERE: Greater Bethesda M.B. Church, 109 E 53rd Street, Chicago, IL 60615 WHAT: Paving the Way Project (PTWP) is creatively adapting its traditional in-person Breakfast with Santa Festival to accommodate public health guidelines due to Covid-19. PTWP will offer toys & hot breakfast to more than 150 children and their families for "grab & go" pick up. This event is made possible through partnership with Strides For Peace, Greater Bethesda Church, Black Village Foundation, Wilson Sporting Goods, and Howard Brown Health. PTWP asks all participants to please practice social distancing and wear a mask. WHY: Founded by former gang member Antonio Davis, Paving the Way takes a community-driven and collaborative approach to ending gun violence. Located in Washington Park, one of areas most impacted by gun violence, PTWP serves as an outreach program for violence prevention and intervention, a bridge between public service personnel and the public they serve. Despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic, PTWP founder Antonio refuses to give up on the festival this year, especially as Washington Park has suffered from escalating gun violence and social isolation. Saturday's event celebrates Paving the Way's success in building bridges in a fragmented city and models effective community collaboration, which is essential to ending gun violence and building up our neighborhoods. About Paving The Way Project, Inc: Founded in 2014 by Antonio Davis, Paving the Way Project is a project of Greater Bethesda Church, serving as a voice for the community and an outreach program for violence prevention & intervention. http://www.Pavingthewayproject.org End
