Follow on Google News | Pete Simons Announces the Release of his Second Novel: White as SnowBy: Pete Simons White as Snow uses the story of Snow White as a very loose backdrop, slips in a host of rock-and-roll references, and tosses in a murder mystery (and a serial killer) for good measure. In White as Snow, Simons once again combines a unique sense of humor and a passion for pop culture to create a novel that straddles the gap between fiction and farce. Simons' first book, The Coyote, was a humorous modernization of Cervantes' classic novel Don Quixote and was published in 2018. Here's a brief synopsis of the White as Snow storyline: While walking back to her dormitory one winter's night, Brown University college sophomore Bianca Snowden collapses and expires in the snow. Her friends, who exhibit character traits oddly similar to those of the seven dwarfs, are devastated by the revelation that Bianca died from an overdose of drugs and alcohol. Twenty years later, another member of the group is murdered. And then another. The culprit leaves a rock song calling card at each crime scene. One of the friends, Detective Charles "Chip" Munck, seeks to determine who is bumping off the other members of the "Heigh-ho Supper Club" and why. Pete Simons is the pen name of Pete Simonse, who retired as the Vice President and Treasurer of Land O'Lakes, Inc. in 2015. "The publication of this work demonstrates that retirement need not consist solely of fishing, lawn care, estate planning, and medical appointments," Simons holds an Sc.B. in engineering from Brown University and an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. After retiring from a career in finance, he joined the Teach for America program and briefly attempted to teach physical science, giving him a deep appreciation for high school professionals.
