D&SNGRR Unveils Fares, Schedule and Service Classes for 2021 Summer Excursions to Silverton

DURANGO, Colo. - March 5, 2021 - PRLog -- The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (D&SNGRR) today unveiled the fares, service classes, and schedule for its 2021 summer season. The historic 140-year-old resumes long-awaited passenger service to Silverton on Sat., May 22, with one daily excursion to the popular mining town through Sun., October 31, and offers multiple daily shorter trips to Cascade Canyon for families.

For the third consecutive year, the D&SNGRR will operate three daily Cascade Canyon Express excursions from Sat., May 1 through Sun., November 7. Using the railroad's fleet of steam locomotives, the Cascade Canyon Express is ideal for families with small children, late risers, or those with limited time to spare, but who still want to experience the iconic vistas and jaw-dropping scenery indicative of the D&SNGRR line.

Dates of Operation and Ticket Prices
To Silverton:
 From May 22 through October 31, the D&SNGRR is operating daily signature round-trip excursions to Silverton out of its iconic depot in historic downtown Durango. Standard-class coach fares are $99.00 per person for adults and $65.00 per person for children under the age of 12, while standard-class open gondola fares are $104.00 per person for adults and $70.00 per person for children. Deluxe-class fares are $124.00 per person for adults and $119.00 per person for children. First-class fares in the Prospector car are $194.00 per person for adults and $189.00 per person for children, and first-class Silver Vista ticket prices are $194.00 per person for both adults and children. Guests can ride in the first-class, adults-only Yankee Girl and Alamosa cars for $194.00 and $224.00 per person, respectively. Finally, passengers seeking the ultimate luxury experience can ride in style in the railroad's presidential-class, adults-only Cinco Animas coach for $224.00 per person. All excursions depart at 9:00 a.m. and return at 6:15 p.m. and have limited passenger capacity due to COVID-19. All fares are subject to an eight-percent historical preservation fee.

To Cascade Canyon:  Every day from May 1 through November 7, the D&SNGRR's Cascade Canyon Express departs from its Rockwood station, located 20 miles north of downtown Durango off Highway 550, at 9:00 a.m., 12:15 p.m., and 3:15 p.m. Standard-class enclosed coach fares are $81.00 per person for adults and $57.00 per person for children. Open-air gondola fares are $86.00 per person for adults and $62.00 per person for children.
