By: Denise Robert, Tournament Coordinator "Andre Dawson is a terrific choice," says Volunteers of America Colorado President and CEO Dave Schunk. "He's a celebrated player who has a permanent place in American baseball lore. I can't wait to hear the stories he has to tell." In a career that spanned from 1976 through 1996, Dawson played for the Montreal Expos, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, and Florida Marlins. He made 438 home runs, 2,774 hits, and stole 314 bases while earning eight Gold Glove and four Silver Slugger awards, making eight All-Star teams, and being named 1977 Rookie of the Year. Dawson was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010. The Volunteers of America's Legends Golf Tournament kicks off on Tuesday, August 17, at a players party where golfers can pose for photos with Dawson and bid in a live auction of baseball memorabilia, including a signed jersey. A limited number of tickets, priced at $100 per person, is available for non-golfers wanting to attend. The tournament takes place the following day, Wednesday, August 18, at RE/MAX's Sanctuary, a private course reserved for charity tournaments and invited guests and rated among the top 150 courses in the nation. Tournament entry fees start at $5,000 per foursome and $6,000 for a foursome with hole sponsorship. Single hole sponsorships are $1,000 each.
