"Reimagining the Revolution is about plotters and planners," Lehman-Ewing said. "These are the people spearheading the modern civil rights movement, but not the ones you see marching in the streets. They are the architects of something new." Reimagining the Revolution comes at a time in history when America is struggling to come to terms with systemic racism and the Black Lives Matter movement has ballooned into the largest civil protest in the nation's history. According to research conducted by four data science firms, an estimated 26 million people in the United States participated in demonstrations in June 2020 alone. By profiling the individuals and organizations designing ways forward, Lehman-Ewing outlines new roads upon which those demonstrators may march. Featuring Angela Davis, Killer Mike and more, this journey into the modern civil rights movement will captivate you. Without being prescriptive, Reimagining the Revolution will examine paths to progress through the lens of the people architecting the abolitionist renaissance. A forthcoming book of the same name aims to provide a platform for these individuals tell their stories in their own voices through journalistic interviews, while also providing a broader perspective of where their strategy fits into the larger movement. In doing so, Reimagining the Revolution exposes readers to possibilities and encourages thought, dialogue and involvement in a movement they feel will make a difference.
