Abolition Meets Choose-Your-Own-Adventure: New Project Explores Unique Paths Toward Racial Justice

LONG BEACH, Calif. - April 27, 2021 - PRLog -- Having covered America's legal system as a journalist, a communications manager for a progressive DA, and a strategist for an advocacy nonprofit, social documentarian Paula Lehman-Ewing now takes a step back and examines the modern civil rights movement from 30,000 feet. Her new project, Reimagining the Revolution: Roadmaps for the Modern Civil Rights Movement, introduces audiences to the people paving new paths toward a more just future.

Reimagining the Revolution comes at a time in history when America is struggling to come to terms with systemic racism and the Black Lives Matter movement has ballooned into the largest civil protest in the nation's history. According to research conducted by four data science firms, an estimated 26 million people in the United States participated in demonstrations in June 2020 alone. By profiling the individuals and organizations designing ways forward, Lehman-Ewing outlines new roads upon which those demonstrators may march.

Paula Lehman-Ewing a journalist and a social documentarian who specializes in capturing the modern civil rights movement. As a criminal justice reporter, she wrote an exposé on the Los Angeles Probation Department and its use of a faulty pretrial risk assessment tool. The resulting article was a finalist for a California Newspaper Publishers Award for in-depth reporting. Paula also worked within the criminal justice system as a communications manager for San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin. For the last year, she has produced a monthly newspaper documenting the nationwide efforts of All of Us or None, an organization fighting for the restoration of civil and human rights for formerly and currently incarcerated individuals. Paula received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and holds a Master's in Journalism from UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism.
