AI-powered forecasting system by Findability Sciences recognized for facilitating healthcare resource management in a developing economy.

BOSTON - May 4, 2021 - PRLog -- The winners of Fast Company's 2021 World Changing Ideas Awards were announced today, honoring the businesses, policies, projects, and concepts that are actively engaged and deeply committed to pursuing innovation for solving health and climate crises, social injustice, or economic inequality. More than 4000 entries competed in the fifth edition of World Changing Ideas Awards that showcase 33 winners and close to 800 honorable mentions. The 2021 awards feature entries from diverse fields - transportation, education, food, politics, technology, pandemic response, urban design, and architecture, to name a few - and represent organizations from across the globe, from Brazil to Denmark to Vietnam.

Findability Sciences received an honorable mention in the AI and Data category for developing a Healthcare forecasting and analytics system (HFAS) that used latest machine learning techniques for projecting the number of patients requiring hospitalization or intensive care for 22 administrative districts in India with a cumulative population of over 25 million. The HFAS, which was developed pro-bono by Findability Sciences, served as a near real-time tracker of emergency and planned hospitalizations in the state (drilled down by gender, age-group, etc.), and threw light on the current and future consumption of healthcare resources. It enabled the governing officials for these districts to forecast demand for healthcare and allowed them time for resource optimization.

Anand Mahurkar, Founder and CEO, Findability Sciences, thanked The Fast Company's editorial team for this recognition, adding that "AI has the potential to make revolutionize the management of natural and public resources globally. The HFAS exemplifies how accurate forecasting and granular data visualization may be used to salvage the allocation of limited resources in the developing economies."

"There is no question our society and planet are facing deeply troubling times. So, it's important to recognize organizations that are using their ingenuity, impact, design, scalability, and passion to solve these problems," says Stephanie Mehta, editor-in-chief of Fast Company. "Our journalists, under the leadership of senior editor Morgan Clendaniel, have discovered some of the most groundbreaking projects that have launched since the start of 2020."
