WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - May 17, 2021 - PRLog -- A recent $100,000 Quantum Foundation grant will make it possible for Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches to continue providing free meals to qualified veterans while also allowing the organization to expand the successful program.
The grant comes two years after Quantum Foundation provided $75,000 to help Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches launch a veteran's program, which currently provides six free meals a week to an estimated 85 qualified homebound seniors who served in the armed forces.
Thanks to the initial grant, the organization has been able to provide meals to more than 150 homebound veterans since the program began. The new funding will enable Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches to expand and reach more homebound veterans in Palm Beach County.
"Our veteran's program has been such a success and we appreciate Quantum Foundation's recognition of the growing need to provide nutritious meals to those who served our country," said Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches President and CEO Pamela Calzadilla.
Quantum Foundation, a longtime supporter of Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches,  provided funding that helped launch the organization in 2010
"We are thrilled to fund Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches as it is such an asset to our community's health," said Eric Kelly, president of Quantum Foundation. "We have funded the organization since its inception more than a decade ago and are proud to have given $550,000 since then. Quantum Foundation is focused on funding whole health initiatives, and Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches provides more than food for our seniors and homebound neighbors; it provides a human connection each time a meal is delivered."
The recent grant to help feed veterans is just one more way Quantum Foundation and Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches are collaborating to meet a growing need in our community, Kelly said.
In addition to funding the veteran's program Quantum Foundation also made it possible for Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches to start a Saturday meal program in 2017.
"We are grateful to Quantum Foundation for its continued support and for its belief in our program from the very beginning," Calzadilla said. "The foundation's generosity has made it possible to bring services to more homebound seniors in Palm Beach County."
