Follow on Google News | New Long-Distance Hiking Trail in SalzburgerLandAustria's SalzburgerLand region (www.salzburgerland.com) The Hohe Tauern Panorama Trail - a 150km, self-guided 10-day hike - is in a flexible 10-stage format for enthusiasts to choose sections or do the complete route in one trip. Well signposted, the rope-free adventure begins in Krimml, ends at Zell am See, and ranging predominantly between 1500m and 2400m it covers a 7000m altitude difference in the Hohe Tauern National Park Europe's largest nature reserve. Not for the faint-hearted, each stage varies in distance and difficulty from 10 to 20km (4 to 7 hours walking) per day. In adverse weather, alternative routes suggested in the Hohe Tauern National Park's English guide book, are also well marked. For less experienced hikers, SalzburgerLand also offers 10,000km of trails including options for families and beginners. Spectacular natural phenomena along the route include the Krimml waterfalls (380m drop), the Schmittenhöhe summit (1965m) and Lake Zell (55.2km²). Expect sublime views over the SalzburgerLand Alpine peaks: Grossvenediger and its glaciers, the Hohe Tauern Range's 3000m peaks and Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner (3798m), are all in sight. The region's beautiful flora and fauna make absorbing viewing in an unspoilt natural environment: One week packages, choosing 6 connected trail stages, are priced from £670 (€778) per person and include 7 nights' accommodation (2 sharing) alternating between mountain and valley, breakfast and dinner each day, a daily luggage transfer service (max 20kg pp), and a shuttle service (from end to start point).
