The New Georgia Project Welcomes Vice President Kamala Harris As She Raises Vaccine Awareness

ATLANTA - June 16, 2021 - PRLog -- As Georgia continues to rank among the states with lowest COVID-19 vaccine adoption, The New Georgia Project (NGP) is deploying their highly successful civic engagement practices to help combat misinformation and raise awareness of the vaccine. On Friday, June 18, 2021, NGP, in partnership with Civic Nation and Center for Popular Democracy will host a "vaccine bus" led by Vice President Kamala Harris.

"We will not sit silently and watch as our Black and brown neighbors continue to contract and die from COVID-19 at higher rates than other populations," said Nsé Ufot, chief executive officer of NGP. "We understand why some people are opposed to receiving the vaccine and are committed to laying out the research, providing high-quality information, and helping Georgians understand the facts. Partnering on the Vaccine Bus is natural alignment for us as we continue to work to protect the health of our communities."

The vaccine bus visit is only part of NGP's overall efforts to educate and inform Georgians. NGP is aggressively working to raise $10M to support their vaccine outreach efforts, with more than $2M already raised. To date, they've supported vaccinations for 18,000 Georgians, focusing on the rural areas of the state with concentrated populations of unvaccinated people. NGP's work  caught the attention of the White House, where the Biden administration is working towards a goal of fully vaccinating 200M people by July 4, 2021. "Ultimately, The New Georgia Project will do whatever it takes to protect the rights - and the health - of the people who call our state home. We're happy to partner with Vice President Harris on this shared initiative," said Ufot.
