Heart of Hospice – Western Arkansas Earns We Honor Veterans Level 5 StatusBy: Heart of Hospice FORT SMITH, Ark. - June 21, 2021 - PRLog -- Heart of Hospice – Western Arkansas earned Level 5 status in the We Honor Veterans program, the highest status achievable. Heart of Hospice achieved this distinction by putting together a multipart video honoring and thanking Vietnam Veterans and distributing it to 16 assisted living facilities and nursing homes across their community.
Heart of Hospice also honored veterans in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the Fort Smith area each month. They partnered with various non-profit organizations, like Next Step Day Room—a homeless shelter, Community Services Clearing House—a social services provider, and Hope Campus—a homeless services provider, to provide care packages to veterans in need. We Honor Veterans is a program run by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs that invites hospices to recognize the unique needs of veterans and learn how to best serve and guide them toward a more peaceful ending. Partnerships begin at level one and partners must complete a series of educational programs and community events to fulfill each level's requirements and continue progressing. Kim Dunigan, Manager of Volunteer Services, shares: "My team and I are humbled to serve our local veteran community. All veterans deserve to be honored for their commitment to country, and veterans facing the end of life deserve special reverence for their accomplishments. We are proud to impact so many through our programs." Keith Brown, Administrator, adds: "We are honored to serve our veterans, and especially to include our Vietnam veterans. I feel it is our duty as Americans to recognize those who have served our country so that we can enjoy the freedom we often take for granted. I am extremely proud of our team and Kim Dunigan for all the work that went toward achieving Level 5 We Honor Veterans status."
