Maternal Mortality Reparation Facility for Black Women

WASHINGTON - July 4, 2021 - PRLog -- Black women die in childbirth at disproportionate rates compared to their white counterparts.  Research from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that Black women are much more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than white women.

We are well beyond the need for evidence proving perpetual childbirth-related health disparities between Black and white communities.  The question is how to reduce these disparities. Creative Investment Research has designed a high social impact investment vehicle that may help.

The Facility is a set of legally binding agreements  containing terms and conditions that direct resources to individuals and institutions with the power and ability to address supply side conditions at the heart of the problem.

Research conducted by the CDC clearly shows that social determinants - access to nutrition, transportation, and healthcare——are crucial factors. The facility we have created is tied to real time monitoring systems that vector resources to pregnant Black women in a just-in-time manner.

We believe the Federal Reserve, under Section 13(3)  of the Federal Reserve Act, should be the primary participant in the Maternal Mortality Reparation Facility for Black Women. We note that the Fed has spent $2 trillion supporting large non-minority financial institutions.

The Maternal Mortality Reparation Facility for Black Women, created with the goal of reducing Black women's maternal mortality, will facilitate access to food and nutrition, transportation, housing, and healthcare. Providing critical resources needed by Black women in childbirth will save lives that should never have been at risk of loss in the first place.
