Spruill Center for the Arts receives grant from Georgia Council for the Arts

DUNWOODY, Ga. - July 14, 2021 - PRLog -- Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, has awarded Spruill Center for the Arts with an Arts Education Grant. As a result of this grant, Spruill will be able to offer 8 free art classes to youth and teens (ages 5-19) beginning Fall 2021.

Thanks to the support of generous donors, particularly the Belle and Louise Cofer Fund and the Tomlinson Memorial Foundation, Spruill was able to provide free youth art classes for over 350 students during the first 2 quarters of 2021. Spruill is thrilled to be able to continue advocating for youth arts and serving as a beacon of the community with the GCA Arts Education grant.

"This partnership with GCA allows us to continue in our mission and to provide support to and access for young artists who have missed the collaboration and interaction of their peers during the pandemic" said Spruill Center for the Arts CEO Alan Mothner. "In study after study, in-person hands-on instruction has been shown to provide emotional, intellectual, and social benefits with long-term positive outcomes. This grant furthers our ability to use the Arts to drive communal well-being."

Fall quarter classes begin late September and registration will open on August 10. A registration fee of up to $20 is required for each class and attendance to the first class is mandatory.

In keeping with their mission of fostering creativity and social connections through the Arts, Spruill hopes to be able to continue providing free youth and teen art classes for the duration of the year and beyond. Donations can be made online to support this program at spruillarts.org/donate (https://www.spruillarts.org/donate).
