Edison Mall Welcomes the Lee County Community Back to SchoolMemorable events at town center celebrate start of a new school year
By: Edison Mall "We are excited to help prepare kids, families, and educators in the Lee County community for this upcoming school year," said Brad Lunn, General Manager at Edison Mall. "This school year will be especially memorable as many students return to in-person learning, and at Edison Mall, we want to support guests and offer ways to celebrate the start of an exciting new year in the classroom." To help local students and educators prepare for the upcoming year, Edison Mall will host a Stuff the Bus Supply Drive kicking off Saturday, July 24th from 12 pm to 3 pm with a Chalk It Up sidewalk art. Guests are encouraged to drop off a variety of school supply items at the town center office from July 24th to August 7th to benefit the underserved schools within the community. Chalk It Up is an opportunity for guests to be creative, share their favorite part of a new school year, or a memory from a time when they used to be in school. The community is invited to draw and write what they are looking forward to, while also offering notes of appreciation to their teachers. The Chalk It Up Sidewalk will be located on the sidewalk outside Entrance A by the Sears Center. Children will also have the opportunity to celebrate going back to school through the KidX Club® Back to School Fest on Saturday, July 31st from 12 pm to 5 pm. The event will feature hands-on activities, including art, Too Tall Torie, live DJ, fashion show and more. Families are encouraged to attend as the School District of Lee County will be on hand to answer any questions parents may have regarding the start of school. In addition, many nonprofits including, but not limited to the United Way, Dunbar Festival Committee, Junior Achievement, Childcare of SW Florida and more, will be on hand with information and resources for families. Mayor Kevin Anderson will be here to engage with the community and speak on education in Lee County at 2 pm. The town center will also help guests prepare for a new academic year through participating in a Tax-Free Week from July 31st to August 9th. Community members can spend ten (10) days shopping tax-free for their back-to-school needs. From end of summer celebrations to school year preparations and everything in between, Edison Mall's back to school events are sure to offer a unique and memorable experience for every guest. Edison Mall remains focused on providing a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. All Back to School festivities will adhere to our rigorous cleaning and disinfectant practices. We ask all guests to conduct themselves in a safe and respectful way in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations, recommendations and mandates, while also adhering to each individual tenant's policies.
