HENDERSON, Nev. - July 26, 2021 - PRLog -- The Avery Burton Foundation, a non-profit 501c.3 committed to ending the stigma around depression, is organizing a Hike and Heal event in partnership with The Nevada Black Police Association. This event is made possible with support from Nevada Congressman Steven Horsford's office, Youth Ambassadors of Las Vegas, and Blacks in Sports Networking Group. This is an outdoor wellness and education program activity for youth in collaboration with non-profit organizations that work with teens and young adults in the Southern Nevada community.

July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month and this event is designed to raise awareness for teens and youth coping with mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and trauma. The event will be hosted on Saturday, July 31st, 2021 from 8:00 am - 9:00 am.

The public may join for free at the Historic Boulder City Railroad Tunnels Trail in Boulder City, NV for BBQ breakfast sandwiches provided by ReQ Therapy BBQ thanks to sponsorship from Arana Software and Don't Cheat Your Greatness.

"Avery loved hiking and we are really happy we can honor his life by bringing the community together and creating awareness for Minority Mental Health," Reggie Burton, CEO of RB Group - Public Relations and ABF Founder.

About The Avery Burton Foundation
To honor Avery's memory and warn families about the dangers of depression, his family started a scholarship in his name. The Avery Burton Excellence in Academics and Sports Scholarship ensures his legacy will live on through the work of the ABF and storytelling initiatives, including the Resilience Project, which is working to publish student essays from this year's record 57 applicants to ensure they have their voices heard and inspire hope for others struggling with the mental health toll from isolation as a result of distance learning during the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic.
