By: HomeAid Atlanta To provide necessities to help ease the burden of homelessness this summer, HomeAid Atlanta partnered with two local church youth groups to pack 1,000 HomeAid CareKits. HomeAid CareKits supply hygiene items and more. The little bags can make a big impact for someone struggling with homelessness, meeting immediate hunger and hygiene needs. CareKits include items like snacks and water, hand sanitizer, deodorant, a comb, a toothbrush and paste, bandages, tissues, and more. On July 7, volunteers from Roswell's The Northview Church Middle School and Teen Ministry packed 500 HomeAid CareKits. The teen volunteers made very quick work of the project. The 500 CareKits were donated to Clifton Sanctuary Ministries in Atlanta, which provides sanctuary to men seeking to overcome homelessness through housing, life skills programs, case management and more. "Often when men first arrive here, they have absolutely nothing," said Mia Covington, Clifton Sanctuary Ministries Executive Director, "We are so very grateful for these CareKits, to help provide basic needs for our guests upon their arrival." The teen ministry from Cornerstone Church in Duluth assembled 500 CareKits on July 14. Correctional Healthcare Services, the outreach branch of correctional healthcare consulting firm Correct Consultants, LLC, will distribute the CareKits to women living on the streets. In 2014, HomeAid began its CareKits initiative with support from HomeAid national partner Bank of America. HomeAid Atlanta has packed and donated 9,300 CareKits to date. HomeAid Atlanta is a nonprofit organization founded in 2001 that builds new lives for families and individuals experiencing homelessness through housing and community outreach. HomeAid builds, renovates, and maintains facilities for nonprofits serving people experiencing homelessness. Celebrating its 20th year of service in 2021, HomeAid has completed over 140 construction projects at locations for victims of domestic violence, teen mothers, veterans and more, utilizing connections with building industry professionals and community organizations. HomeAid also provides essential items like diapers, wipes, and hygiene products to those affected by homelessness. HomeAid is the designated charity of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association.
