GRACE BAY, Turks & Caicos Islands - Aug. 13, 2021 - PRLog -- Prakriti: Each Constitution is Unique

The key to Ayurvedic wellness and healing is understanding that health is not a one-size-fits-all proposition. It is imperative to know the unique nature of each person and situation, taking into account the individual, the season, the geography, and so on.

Each person has an Ayurvedic constitution that is specific to him or her, and proceeding away from that constitution creates imbalances in their health. If these imbalances are not addressed, Ayurveda says that disease can develop. Therefore, the first signs of imbalance serve as a wake-up call to make gentle and natural changes in behavior to bring balance back, such as: adjusting your diet, modifying daily activities, and taking herbal remedies for some time.

The determination of the Prakriti is fundamental to balance the constitution of each person and requires an evaluation of his most natural state. Let's consider our physical makeup, as well as our mental and emotional tendencies. Let's think about what is most natural for us, rather than who we are when we are stressed or sick. Ayurveda says that each person can understand their basic nature and tendencies by understanding their balanced state.

The unbalanced dosha (our vikruti, or current condition) can manifest itself in various ways and in various stages; from a general feeling of "something is not right", to diagnosed illnesses with serious complications. To address this, Ayurveda presents a comprehensive "toolbox" with treatment modalities to choose from. But whatever the treatment, the goal is to restore the natural balance of Vata, pitta, and Kapha.

The Ayurveda Remedies

Ayurveda offers a number of ways to balance doshas and find well-being. The key is to find balance with a holistic approach: directing the mind, body and spirit.

Ayurvedic remedies are based on:
  • Diet modifications
  • Lifestyle and activity adjustments
  • Herbal supplements
  • Yoga, Pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation
  • Marma (Energy Pressure Points)
  • Cleaning processes, such as Panchakarma, etc.
