The 2nd Annual Nurses Pub Gala Gains Fuel For Major Resource Center

LOS ANGELES - Aug. 15, 2021 - PRLog -- The Nurses Pub, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is hosting its second annual fundraising gala on Nov. 20, 2021 with the generous support of Terranea Resort and UOPX, Southern California.

The purpose of the fundraiser is to build The Nurses Pub Resource and Educational Center, the first of its kind in the heart of Los Angeles. "A state-of-the-art, one-stop shop will help propel students who are disadvantaged financially and are in need of resources to make their transitions from student to nurse more feasible," said RN Mona Clayton, the CEO of The Nurses Pub.

Clayton has personal experience with balancing single parenthood and rigorous study and know the resources it takes to become a registered nurse. This includes child care needs as well as the need to study so as to pass national and state examinations. A lack of finances and the time it takes to land a first nursing gig can be significant challenges.

She also knows what it is like to be a product of South Central Los Angeles, which is considered an underserved community. In that environment, the expectation of becoming a positive light in the professional world is deemed a rarity. But more importantly, Clayton knows that it takes a village to get through the obstacles that she endured more than 20 years ago as a nursing student.

Clayton said, "If not for the people who pushed and encouraged me during the times of struggle, I am not sure that I would have made it to the road of success. Our resource center will fit the need of any nursing student beyond the didactic curriculum that typically comes from nursing programs and our offerings will consist of child care assistance, transportation services, a place to collaborate with other professionals, as well as state-of the-art equipment."

The world witnessed nurses at the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for fresh nurses in the field is readily apparent. It is estimated that millions more nurses will be needed by year 2023. It has been the goal of The Nurses Pub to help fulfill that need. Since 2018, The Nurses Pub has gained momentum toward reaching 100,000 future nurses globally through seminars, webinars, financial assistance and resources that assist nursing students in gaining prosperity.
