Alphonso Clay Unravels Civil War Plot In "Murder By Plague"

IRVINE, Calif. - Sept. 20, 2021 - PRLog -- Jack Martin's new novel Murder by Plague (TouchPoint Press, September 21, 2021), the fourth installation in his Alphonso Clay Civil War Mystery series, places readers in the center of a thrilling historical mystery with an element of the paranormal.

Murder by Plague blends real historical detail with an exciting plot and compelling, morally complex protagonist. The novel wrestles with the nature of right and wrong in a time when, in Martin's words, "violence was everywhere and people were willing to do appalling things with an unshakeable certainty that their cause was just." As thought-provoking as it is entertaining, Murder by Plague will leave readers eager to know how Alphonso's story ends.

About the Book
Lee has surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia. However, Col. Clay has been asked to investigate rumors of a plot to restart the Civil War. Too late to save Lincoln, he goes in pursuit of the fugitive assassin Booth. He is in at the kill of the fugitive actor; but in examining the assassin's diary, he finds that Lincoln's death was only the beginning of a monstrous plot—a plot that reaches far beyond a vain actor, a plot that reaches higher and further than Clay could have possibly imagined.

Murder by Plague will be available in eBook ($4.99) and softcover ($16.99) from major retailers. Wholesale direct from TouchPoint Press and Ingram.

About Jack Martin
Jack Martin is a life-long Californian. Trained in the prosaic fields of economics and law, and earning his living in the corporate bowels of an aerospace company, in his spare time he studied the wonders of astronomy and the glories of American history. Sonia, his wife of twenty-seven years, greatly enjoyed Jack's stories of the American past, especially his speculation about a "secret history of the United States:" incidents so vital to our future yet so potentially terrible that knowledge of them was withheld from the American public. With her prodding, he created a series of novels involving Alphonso Clay: a Civil War Union officer who finds himself involved in several such incidents that will never find their way into history books. Sonia passed away in 2009 following a brave battle against ovarian cancer. He promised her he would finish the books and become a published author. He dedicated his first novel, Murder on the Mississippi, to her, the love of his life.
