By: Total Health "Most of college is needless—courses that repeat what we learned in high school are of little value after medical school," says Richard Ruhling, MD. He believes education should address the practical aspects of life with skills and training to find a job in the field one chooses for men and domestic arts--healthy food preparation and rearing children for women. "America was founded by men and women who worked as a family unit, like growing a garden. They had no WalMart but did well. When Industrialization took men from the farm to factory with regular hours in the cities it changed the family and then women went to work with TV as the baby-sitter or a street education? Cities are not as good as country to rear children and we may soon wish we knew how to grow a garden," says Ruhling. He claims homeschooling is the right idea and it's an instinct in parents. "Just like mothers fix nourishing food for the body, they can offer better food for the mind than TV which is exciting but not good, like a junk food diet with sugar—we like exciting tastes but it's not healthy. Prof. Florence Stratemeyer at Columbia University's Teachers College came across the book, Education, by Ellen White which she reviewed and was amazed at the advanced concepts, the need for moral instruction and balanced education that included the physical, mental and spiritual natures. Stratemeyer said it included all important curriculum topics and eulogized the author who wrote some classics. Readers can access Education and other classics like The Ministry of Healing, The Desire of Ages (life of Christ), Christ's Object Lessons (parables) Steps to Christ (knowing Him personally—these titles are non-denominational with exception of The Great Controversy on how history repeats in end-times at https://whiteestate.org/ End
