Trimble Provides 100 Scholarships to Train Under-Resourced Women in Colorado with Girls With Impact's Business Training

By: Girls With Impact
WESTMINSTER, Colo. - Oct. 12, 2021 - PRLog -- Trimble today announced a collaboration with the non-profit Girls With Impact, an online mini-MBA for young women.  Trimble will sponsor 100 scholarships to young women of color and young women from low- to moderate-income families in Westminster (a key base of operations for Trimble) and the greater Denver area with skills that will transform their future career opportunities.

This collaboration is part of NextGen Denver 10K, an effort to train 10,000 young women in the Denver region over the next three years. Along with Trimble, the U.S. Bank Foundation is also supporting the effort.

"Trimble's goals include creating opportunity within our local communities," said Patricia Boothe, senior vice president and executive sponsor of DEI at Trimble. "And so, we are very excited to partner with Girls With Impact, encouraging young women to pursue advanced education, to develop a spirit of entrepreneurship and to have the confidence to do both."

These young women ages 14-21 will participate in a 10-week live, online instructor-led business training program. They will develop their own business or nonprofit venture and business plan, arming them with critical entrepreneurship, leadership and business skills that give them a huge leg-up for their future.

"We're inviting Colorado's employers and philanthropists to join Trimble and U.S. Bank so that, together, we can impact lives, our talent, and our economy," said Jennifer Openshaw, CEO, Girls With Impact. "From adopting a school to impacting a region, every dollar will generate tremendous ROI for Coloradans."

More than 50% of Girls With Impact graduates develop ventures focused on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), while 70% feature a social impact component – underscoring GenZ's desire to drive change and innovation.

Recruitment efforts for the Trimble scholarships will focus on Westminster High School. Young women and girls ages 14-21 in the area may register for programs starting October 12th.  Those on free or reduced lunch or from low-income households may attend on a full scholarship. About Girls With Impact
Girls With Impact, a 501c3, is the nation's only live, online mini-MBA for young women, offered year-round.  The 10-week, after-school Business and Innovation Academy moves young women from ideation to a business plan and venture pitch, driving improvements in confidence, leadership, college readiness and professional skills for success. The organization started in 2017 when the World Economic Forum, in Davos, brought attention to the need to increase the number of women in leadership.  Girls With Impact partners with corporations and foundations who make our work possible.
