Follow on Google News | DC3ECS Makes It's Mark in International CompetitonFirst Time Participation Success in Malaysia-wide Beaver Computational Thinking Competition
This competition originated in Lithuania in 2004 and is conducted in 54 countries, testing students' ability to solve computer science concepts and logical problems. The allocation of percentage for this competition states that the top 10% of participants are Medallists, the next 40% received Honourable Mention, whist the remaining receive a Certificate of Participation. This competition commenced on the 23rd of June, with 12 DC3ECS students chosen to take part. The results on the 30th of September saw five of their students receive Honourable Mention, with the rest receiving Certificates of Participation. Being a non-profit school for refugees, and with teachers being volunteers, this was a great achievement and DC3ECS is looking at this as a stepping stone for the students to achieve their dreams and that they are not inferior to others. "I want to acknowledge and praise the DC3ECS students for participating and achieving the honorary certs at Beaver Competition 2021," Rev. Zeeshan Bashir, Overseer DC3ECS. "I believe what Donald Knuth said and which is true in our case. It is much more rewarding to do more with less. "I can see this experience has opened another door of knowledge and confidence. "Let me also thank all the teachers-volunteers and supporters of DC3ECS, especially our Head Mathematics, Alan Benny Ghouri, for his restless efforts to prepare the students." Ghouri said: "I was excited to see my students take part in the competition and show their potential. "I am very proud of them all. Of course, there is room for improvement and believe we can get even better results in future." DC3ECS' principal Fiona Hashmat was overjoyed with the achievement. "Heartfelt congratulations to you all. You have the creativity and determination to do whatever you can dream. I hope you feel proud today and confident in your ability to rise to your next challenge," said Hasmat. "Celebrating the record you just set and looking forward to watching you cross your next finish line! "So pleased to see you accomplishing great things."
