NASCAR's Anthony Alfredo's Secret To A Quick Escape From Car Fire

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - Oct. 21, 2021 - PRLog -- Front Row Motorsports racer Anthony Alfredo depends on his safety equipment to survive the dangers a NASCAR race can bring at an instant. At the Autotrader EcoPark Automotive 500, held at Texas Motor Speedway on October 17th, Alfredo spun out and hit the outside wall rear first, after a chain reaction incident that forced many on the track to check-up to avoid the melee. "Kyle Busch made contact with Chris Buescher and the ensuing chain reaction forced everyone to check-up to avoid the crash," said Alfredo. "I got hit from the back and slammed into the outside wall with the back of the car, then slid down to the bottom of the track."

Alfredo's No. 38 Ford began leaking fluid that caught on fire moments after the car had stopped on the inside of the track. "At first, I was taking my time to get out and I removed the steering wheel, then began unbuckling my safety harness," said Alfredo. "Then I saw the car was on fire and I got out as fast as I could."

Alfredo's car is equipped with the Maglock® Air magnetic coupling device that connects his air-hose and FluidLogic hydration system to his racing helmet. The system is designed to provide an airtight seal with 20-lbs of clamping force but can be quickly removed for driver changes or in the case of an accident. Alfredo exited the car with no choice but to jump into the fire, walking away unhurt and ready for the next race. "I didn't realize what was going on at the moment and I'm pretty sure I walked through fire," he said. "This is a testament that all of the safety equipment we use is top-notch and proven to work."
