Arizona Technology Council Elects Encora, Insight, MSS and TGen Executives to its Board of Directors

The Council Strengthens its Board with Leading Executives Across a Diverse Range of Technology Sectors
PHOENIX - Oct. 29, 2021 - PRLog -- The Arizona Technology Council today announced Rick Stoddard, vice president of Client Services, Encora; Mike Gaumond, senior vice president of Strategy and Transformation, Insight; Keith Latchaw, president and CEO, MSS Business Transformation Advisory; and Kevin Campbell, vice president of Information Technology Operation, Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), have been added to its board of directors. The executives were all unanimously elected to serve three-year terms at the Council's quarterly board meeting on October 28, 2021.

The Council also announced the continuation of the following board officers for another one-year term:
  • Chair emeritus Robert Witwer, Honeywell (retired)
  • Chair Eric Miller, co-founder and principal, PADT
  • Vice chair Alex Iuorio, senior vice president, Avnet
  • President and CEO Steven G. Zylstra
  • Secretary Jonathon Talcott, partner-elect, Ballard Spahr
  • Treasurer Eric Lewis, partner, Ernst & Young
"It is rewarding to see our board of directors continue to be bolstered with both tenured leaders and rising stars in our technology community," said Zylstra. "Rick, Mike, Keith and Kevin each possess a wealth of knowledge on growing a business and building a strong innovation ecosystem, which will be valuable to our members. The continuity of our team of officers also provides us with tremendous strength as we persevere in our work of accelerating technology growth in our state."

The Council also announced directors serving additional terms, as well as a new staff member. After more than 13 outstanding years with the Council, Leigh Goldstein is leaving his position as chief operating officer and vice president of Programs and Events to pursue new opportunities. Darryle Emerson, who most recently worked for the Arizona Lodging and Tourism Association, will take over for Leigh as the new director of Programs and Events.

The Council also recognizes the following former board members for their outstanding volunteer service, dedication and commitment to its mission: Mike Hawksworth, chairman of the board, MSS Business Transformation Advisory; Chris Johnson, founder and CEO, LaneTerralever; and Timothy McDaniel, vice president of Technology Development, TGen.

The board serves an advisory and fiduciary role by representing the interests of the state's technology industries in the Council's strategic planning and ongoing operations. The current board includes 33 members representing a diverse set of organizations.

The biographies of the new staff member and board appointments are:

Darryle Emerson, director of Programs and Events, Arizona Technology Council

Emerson is a meeting planner with a decade of valuable experience in events and association management. He specializes in working with nonprofit associations and has executed successful gatherings from small meetings to culinary festivals and galas. His experience as a concierge at various five diamond resorts around the Valley of the Sun instilled a passion for excellence in customer service and hospitality that he brings to each event. Emerson was most recently the director of events at the Arizona Lodging and Tourism Association. In his downtime, he enjoys exploring Arizona and can often be found hiking in the desert.

Rick Stoddard, vice president of Client Services, Encora

Stoddard brings to his role a successful track record of more than 30 years that includes high-profile leadership positions and recognized sales achievements in the high-tech and software industries. A student of ecosystem creation and enhancement, Stoddard specializes in building high-value strategic networks. Additional areas of experience include entrepreneur, founder, business leader, mentor and trusted adviser. A resident of Arizona for 26 years, Stoddard has a passion for quality job creation in the Arizona ecosystem. He has developed connections with an extensive network of professionals who share the vision of making Arizona a great place to live and work. He is an innovation junkie and has a passion for exploring nature and the great outdoors.

Mike Gaumond, senior vice president of Strategy and Transformation, Insight

Gaumond began his career as a software engineer and subsequently joined Index Group, a management consultancy. Throughout his career, he gained a unique blend of experience spanning hardware, software and services. As CEO of Beamz Interactive, he raised $4 million and led the startup from prototype to a $2 million public offering and retail launch in less than 12 months. At Motorola, he led the development and launch of an award-winning mobile internet radio service. Gaumond joined Insight in 2011 as senior vice president of Services and led the effort to revitalize the services business, doubling gross profit. In 2021, he transitioned to senior vice president of Strategy and Transformation for North America. Gaumond is focused on shaping a market-driven business strategy and leading the development of client-facing platforms to leverage Insight's unique strategic assets in data & AI, hybrid cloud and digital workplace.

Keith Latchaw, president and CEO, MSS – Business Advisory Transformation

Latchaw is a business and consulting executive with more than 35 years of experience guiding public and private organizations through significant change and transformation initiatives. Currently, Latchaw is the president and CEO of MSS Business Transformation Advisory, an Arizona-focused consulting company. He has successfully implemented a new operating system and is currently working with the leadership team to transition the organization from a pure technology focus to a company focused on client success through change and transformation initiatives by emphasizing strong governance and the alignment of people, processes and technology.

Kevin Campbell, vice president of Information Technology Operation, TGen

Campbell is responsible for the design, development and implementation of infrastructure systems, software applications and IT support. He plays a key role in identifying emerging technologies to be adopted by TGen that support the research and business objectives of the institute. Additionally, Campbell has played a primary role in incubating numerous startups developed at TGen. He joined TGen in 2003 as a senior high-performance computing engineer and has worked closely with the scientific community to enable and accelerate research and discovery. Campbell was a key driver of the team that designed and built two supercomputer systems for TGen that have placed in the top 100 most powerful supercomputers in the world. Prior to TGen, Kevin worked for several companies designing, deploying and managing large-scale systems to solve complex problems. Kevin has worked within the information technology industry for over 27 years.
